On July 7, 2025, Pastor Abner de los Santos was officially elected President of the Inter-American Division (IAD) of the Seventh-day Adventist Church during the 62nd General Conference Session in St. Louis, Missouri.
With nearly four decades of denominational service, Pastor de los Santos brings experience to his new leadership role. His previous responsibilities included;
- Serving as General Vice President of the General Conference from 2015 to 2025.
- Holding senior roles within the IAD from 2010 to 2015, including Vice President for Member Retention.
- Leading administrative units in Mexico—first as conference executive secretary, and later as union executive secretary and union president.
He holds a Master’s degree in Pastoral Ministry from Andrews University and earned his Doctor of Ministry from the Inter-American Theological Seminary in 2012. He is married to Leticia, and the couple has two grown children and four grandchildren.
The Inter-American Division is one of the most vibrant and dynamic regions of the global Adventist family, encompassing 42 countries across Central America, the Caribbean, Mexico, Colombia, Venezuela, and parts of South America. The role demands not only administrative acuity but also astute cultural leadership and mission alignment.
His blend of administrative experience, theological training, and cultural insight sets the division on a strong trajectory for the 2025–2030 quinquennium. As a Conference, let us all ask God to guide Pastor Abner de los Santos in his leadership tenure of the Inter American Division.
